The British Labour Party is one of two main political parties in the United Kingdom, along with the Conservative Party.

Founded in 1900, the Labour Party grew out of the trade union movement and various socialist parties and movements of the 19th century. The first Labour Prime Minister, Ramsay MacDonald was elected in 1924.

The Labour Party has at times dominanted British politics in the 20th and 21st centuries.

As a social democratic and centre-left political party it has advocated for social welfare, the National Health Service and workers rights.
